A right Royal Visitor

Revive was graced with Royalty yesterday as Pasty Dan - Tory Island's very own King graced us with his presence on the route to Belfast where he is having an exhibition of his lovely works at An Culturann on the Falls Road.  We wish him every success.

We were laughing as he stood by the his predecessor Pol Rodgers, whom we have a portrait of in the shop by Anton Meenin.

Dunfanaghy - Back to Black & White !

If this picture is anything to go by, a traffic jam in Dunfanaghy meant a whole different thing before the turn of the 19th century.

Since moving into the Market House, we have been interested in finding out more about the building's history and importance to the town.  We came across this old image of the Market Square and Market House and would love to find out more about it. Do you know when it was taken or who the boy is in the photo ?

We would love to get copies of this or any other old images from around the same time, so we can add them to the website. Equally if there are any interesting  stories or memories about the Market House specifically, or indeed the Dunfanaghy of old, (especially from  the mid 19th Century onwards) we would love to hear them. You can find our contact details on this site, or feel free to drop into the shop.

Dunfanaghy - 'The Brightest Jewel in the Treasure Chest' that is Donegal

We couldn't have described it better ourselves ! These are the words of feature writer for The Irish News, William Scholes, in a recent article about his family holiday in Donegal. William like so many has clearly been bitten by the Donegal bug and in our humble opinion the article sums up all that is good about this area and the wonderful town of Dunfanaghy.

For those of you who may have missed it, here is a copy. Hope you can read it OK !

All the Fun of the August Fair

Dunfanaghy is buzzing again with the arrival of the August Fair. The evening of Friday 2nd saw the colourful parade of floats with many of the local businesses getting into the festive spirit. The various floats made their way through the main street to the Market Square were the judges picked their favourites. Clearly a great deal of effort was put in by all, with Lizzie's Diner eventually 'floating' to the top. Well done to all concerned... it was a fun evening that drew a large crowd. As one of the newest businesses in the town the creative brainstorming has already started for our debut next year !

We've captured a few videos from the evening...you can decide who floated your boat !

Putting the Market back in the Market House

The Market House dates back to 1845 when it was established by The Stewarts of Ards as a market place for the sale of local goods. At 'Revive' we are delighted to be reviving that tradition of buying and selling in this traditional old building. For many years it was the very beating heart of local commerce and we hope that once again it can play its part in cementing Dunfanaghy's place as a thriving town for locals and visitors alike. You can read more about the Stewart family's contribution to the local area here .

Revive Alive

Glorious Donegal sunshine welcomed the arrival of Dunfanaghy's latest retail outlet  as we opened the doors  of 'Revive' on Saturday 13th July.

Living up to its name, 'Revive' has brought new life to the old Market House in Market Square which has lay vacant for many years. Our vision is to 'breath new life into old furniture' and is tapping into the current trend for restoring and upcycling old or unloved furniture.

We are combining our skills in craft, upholstery and design to re-find the beauty in old but quality furniture. As well as selling furniture items that have been upcycled in our workshop, we also undertake bespoke furniture revival commissions. In the early autumn we are also planning to host a number of beginner classes to share some of the skills involved, so watch this space.

We are very excited about the response and support received to date and hope that you will be able to call in for a browse and a coffee. One thing you can be sure of is that we will always have plenty of chairs !
